Peugeot RCZ Coupe

The Peugeot RCZ Coupe concept wowed audiences at its European Motorshow reveals and the transition from concept to reality is dropdead gorgeous..

With its swooping lines this motorcar has the ability to look like it is moving fast while standing still. This of course, is not the aim for Peugeot. It is designed to look as radical as the concept while still containing Peugeot design DNA.
Some interest design features are evident such as the so called "double bubble" rear window and the prominent roofline rails.
It is something we cannot wait to see when it arrives at Sydney Peugeot Dealers.

So what does it drive like?
Well without having any time behind the wheel of this great looking car, it is hard to say. What is certain is that the drivetrain technology will be amongst the best in the world.

There will be petrol and diesel engine options that will sit under its aluminium bonnet.
A new 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine has been developed for the RCZ. It will produce maximum power of 147kW at 5800 rpm and maximum torque of 255Nm at 1700 rpm. It will also have an overboost feature where the engine will produce 275Nm.
What this will result in is 80 to 120 kph in 6.5 seconds in fifth gear, and 0 to 100 kph in 7.6 seconds. Fuel consumption does not exceed 7.1 litres/100 km in the combined cycle.

This 4-cylinder engine is very hi-tech and there is a world first: a Twin-Scroll turbocharger for performance and instant response at very low engine speeds, direct petrol injection, and variable valve lift coupled with variable valve timing on the intake and exhaust camshafts (VTi technology), for reduced fuel consumption.

The other engine choice is Peugeot’s HDi (Turbo Diesel)FAP technology via a 2.0-litre engine developing maximum power of 120kW at 3750 rpm and generous maximum torque of 340Nm at 2000 rpm.

Braking is also powerful and durable to handle the performance. It is assured by ventilated discs with a diameter of 302 mm and a thickness of 26 mm. The 147 kW model receives discs of 340x30mm.

All models are equipped with rear brake discs with a diameter of 290x12 mm.

The interior contains two contoured bucket seats, a sports-themed dash and a jewel-look analog clock create a high quality feel.

The boot offers a capacity of 384 litres with additional storage spaces under the floor – this can be increased by folding the rear seat backs down, giving a maximum boot capacity of 760 litres.

There are also two seats in the rear. Fully sculpted and perfectly usable, especially since the design of the roof with its double bubble offers headroom to Ooccupants of the rear seats.

Car Servicing

When buying a new car one thing that rarely is thought of is the ongoing maintenance of the chosen vehicle. That is understandable of course as the purchase of a new car is a rare occurrence! Most people don't ever buy new at all. Instead buying a used cars every time the need arises.

The fortunate thing is that most new vehicles these days have service schedules that are further apart. Some cars, like any BMW, have variable service intervals depending on driving habits. This results in less reasons to book a service. While this is advantageous, the risk is your engine may be working hard with dirty engine oil swishing around. This may not be an issue if the driver only has the car for two or three years. It may become an issue in the long run.

The ideal situation is that every few months or 5000km the oil should be checked. In saying this, we are not only inspecting the cleanliness of the oil. The engine oil level is also critical. While under the bonnet, check the coolant level in the (usually a green liquid).

For those who are intent on owning the car for over 3 years, which is at a stage where most manufacturer warranty usually ends, ensuring that the vehicle is well maintained during the early years is important.
A suggestion is to go to your service department negotiate a price to change your car’s engine oil and filter, while checking other vital fluids, in between the recommended services. For instance if your vehicle has a manufacturer recommended interval of 15000km/12mths between services, it would be wise to change the oil and filter at 7500km or at least every 6 months.

In doing this you will ensure the longevity of the cars vital components, and less risk of costly repairs when the vehicle is out of new car warranty.
Adding to that, in usual cases it will be of benefit when you want a trade in valuation.

So the name of the game is to look after your car to ensure trouble free motoring!

New Sydney Volkswagen Commercial dealer

Sydney's newest Volkswagen commercial dealer is coming soon to Blacktown.

Volkswagen is one of the fastest growing brands in Australia, and its commercial range has slowly but surely made an impact on small business owners who require a reliable and economical van for their business. With some of the best turbo diesel engines in the world, there are few others that can meet the high standard of Volkswagen commercial vehicles.

A great example of this is the Volkswagen Caddy. It's available in two wheelbases, the longer of which is called the Volkswagen Caddy Maxi Van.

Both are available with petrol and turbo diesel engines, manual and a DSG automated manual.

The ever popular Volkswagen Transporter is also part of the range available as a van or cab chassis. Once again hi-tech turbo diesel are part of the line up plus a tiptronic auto as an option on the more powerfull turbo diesel engine.

If the Caddy and Transporter aren't big enough, then the Volkswagen Crafter is for you. The Crafter can swallow just about anything. So if you haul big loads, the Crafter also available in cab chassis form is a great choice for your business.

Stay tuned for updates on the opening date!

Highest achieving MINI Garage takes out MINI Excellence Award.

This year, the MINI Excellence award for a metropolitan dealer went to Trivett Classic MINI Garage located in Parramatta, Sydney for the second time in three years. Trivett Classic also outranked all other MINI garages nationally in the pre-loved MINI division as well.

The MINI Excellence awards distinguish top performing MINI Garages who excel in areas of customer service and loyalty, new and used sales as well as a host of other metrics that underpin the MINI brand.

“It took a special kind of dealer to shine in 2009 and these award winning MINI dealers certainly shone. Not only in terms of our high local standards, but also when benchmarked against their counterparts from around the globe. Their strong and consistent focus towards MINI provides us with valuable partnerships and customers with excellence in customer service” said Justin Hocevar, National Manager, MINI.

Adding to these prestigious accolades, Trivett Classic also won the MINI Finance Dealer of the Year award recognising the dealer’s strong focus on finding financial solutions for their customers.

The strong network of 21 MINI Garages across the nation delivered over 2,000 new MINI vehicles last year in what was one of the toughest years the automotive industry has experienced. The MINI brand performed exceptionally well with an improved market share by 39% and a sales outcome on par with the previous year.

The future is exciting for MINI with the recent announcement of the brand’s fourth model - the MINI Countryman. Offering more space than ever before, featuring an elevated seating position and additional ground clearance as well as ALL4 all-wheel drive, the MINI Countryman introduces brand new opportunities for MINI in Australia.

Around the corner, the exclusive MINI John Cooper Works WC50 will make its public display debut at next months Melbourne Formula One Grand Prix, where the MINI Challenge race series will be entertaining the crowd.

2010 Porsche Cayenne

Much to the delight of Porsche dealers and enthusiasts alike, the new generation Porsche Cayenne to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next week is the Cayenne S model with its sophisticated parallel full hybrid drive.

The Cayenne S Hybrid has fuel consumption in the New European Driving Cycle of just 8.2 litres/100 kilometres and CO2 emissions of just 193 g/km. This combines the performance of an eight-cylinder with the economy of a six-cylinder.

Compared with the former models, fuel consumption is down by up to 23 per cent, since the new Cayenne, like every Porsche, has been developed according to the principle of “Porsche Intelligent Performance”: more power on less fuel and greater efficiency.

These objectives result, not least, from the introduction of the new Tiptronic S eightspeed automatic transmission with Auto Start Stop and a wide spread of gear ratios, thermal management on the engine and transmission cooling circuit, on-board network recuperation, variable engine cut-off and intelligent lightweight construction.

Thanks to its special combination of materials for optimum weight as well as changes in the overall concept of the vehicle such as the Cayenne’s new active and extra-light all-wheel drive, weight is down for example on the Cayenne S by 180 kg – despite the improvement of product substance and an even higher standard of safety.
This clearly has very positive effects not just on fuel consumption, performance, agility, and handling.
Benefiting from these features and new technologies, the new Cayenne offers even more driving enjoyment both onroad and offroad, combined with even greater everyday driving qualities, enhanced comfort, and supreme elegance.
Extra space inside and greater variability is ensured by a 40 mm longer wheelbase.

In all, the new Cayenne is 48 mm longer than its predecessor. But despite its larger exterior dimensions, the new generation of the Cayenne is nevertheless far more compact and dynamic.

Eye-catching is the brand-new, high-quality interior with the centre console rising up to the front with its upright gear selector, giving the forward section of the interior a cockpit feel. The rear seat moves fore-and-aft by 160 mm, with the backrest angle adjusting to three different settings.

Sales of the Cayenne in Australia through Porsche Centre Parramatta begin on July 24. Initial models to go on sale will be the Cayenne S, S Hybrid and Turbo. These will be joined later by the V6 Diesel and V6 Petrol models.

The Cayenne S Hybrid is not only the cleanest version of the Cayenne , but also the cleanest Porsche in the Company’s entire portfolio!

In the intelligent interaction of the 3.0-litre supercharged V6 and the electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid focuses on maximum efficiency from the overall system.

Depending on driving conditions, the SUV reaches this target with either only one drive unit operating by itself or with both drive units working together. In this context the 34 kW electric motor is of course the ideal partner for the 245 kW supercharged V6 engine with its high torque at low speeds. Together, the two drive units deliver maximum power output of 279 kW and peak torque of 580 Nm (at just 1,000 rpm) – delivering the same kind of driving performance as the Cayenne S with its V8 engine.

The two drive units are connected to one another by a separator clutch masterminded by the Hybrid Manager. This separator clutch is essential to run the Cayenne S Hybrid either on its electric motor or combustion engine alone, or with both drive units operating together. Given a reserved, moderate style of motoring, for example in a residential area, this allows the driver to cover short distances on electric power alone and therefore absolutely free of emissions and with hardly any noise at a speed of up to 60 km/h.

To ensure fast acceleration from take off, the electric motor may however serve to provide additional thrust through its boosting effect. Intelligent management of the separator clutch makes the transition among the hybrid-specific driving modes inconspicuous, comfortable and quick. At the same time the combustion engine may be completely switched off at speeds of up to 156 km/h, being fully disengaged from the drivetrain when no further power is required. In this so-called “sailing“ mode (cruising along without power), the drag forces exerted by the combustion engine and their braking effect are eliminated in the interest of lower drive resistance and fuel consumption.

The normally aspirated Cayenne S with its high-torque 4.8-litre V8 engine is also significantly down in fuel consumption, in this case by 23 per cent to 10.5 litres/100 kilometres. At the same time the new engine delivers 294 kW, up 11 kW from the predecessor‘s 283 kW.

Porsche Intelligent Performance also applies to the Cayenne Turbo, with the 368 kW 4.8-litre V8 biturbo consuming just 11.5 L/100 km in the New European Driving Cycle, again 23 per cent less than its predecessor.

The 3.6-litre V6 petrol Cayenne now with 220 kW of power (up from 213 kW) has its fuel consumption in the NEDC driving cycle reduced by no less than 20 per cent to 9.9 L/100 kms.

The 3.0-litre V6 Cayenne Diesel with 176 kW and 550 Nm likewise reduces fuel consumption by 20 per cent, down to 7.4L/100 kms.

Together with the Cayenne S Hybrid, no less than three of the five versions of the new Cayenne consume less than 10 litres of fuel per 100 kms in the New European Driving Cycle! This ensures that the Porsche Cayenne is the best and most fuel efficient luxury SUV in Australia.
